CLASSIC GAMES REVISITED – Super Mario Bros. 2 (Japan) (Nintendo Wii V.C.) Review
If you lived in Japan and had a Famicom with the Disk System peripheral, this was the version of SMB2 that you could play. Outside of Japan, the rest of the world got a reworked version of Doki Doki Panic. This game is the ultimate challenge if you’ve mastered the original SMB. Check it out for the wii Virtual Console here in this review!

There is also a 3rd direct port of this game for the Game Boy Advance but it was released only in Japan on a yellow cartridge. It’s part of their take on the Classic NES Series.

I remember a memory I had when I first played a Super Mario Bros 2 game at age 5 it was the American version (Doki Doki Panic clone). A year later I played a game on the Famicom Disk system in Japan with the same name and I was just thinking “Hmmmm this is a little different to the one I played before”. Since I was only 6 at the time I ignored it and just played.

As a note, on Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, that version of SMB2 doesn’t have the altered physics, which makes some jumps nearly impossible.
