Does the NINTENDO Gamecube use the same Memory Card as the NINTENDO Wii Console?
I’m looking at a memory card on eBay and it says it is for "Gamecube nintendo wii Console". Does that mean it will work on either system? I need it to work on GameCube for now. Maybe later on the Wii.
It will work on the gamecube and if you later decide to play your gamecube games on your wii it will work by plugging it in the top and only on your gamecube games, so as far as a wii goes it’s useless

No, Wii data can’t be saved on a Gamecube memory card. A Wii can read data on a Gamecube memory card for playing games, but not saving data on. SD cards can be used for saving Wii data on such as music, photos, saved game data, etc.

The Gamecube memory card can only be used to save Gamecube games, but you can use it to save your Gamecube games when you’re playing them on the Wii. The Wii has an internal memory, so no external card is required….unless you want to transfer your save files to anothe Wii. When you do, you’ll use an SD card (which is also used for cameras and cell phones).

it means it is for gamecube but since you can play GCN games on WII then you can use the memory card for the gamecube games with a little slot on top of the wii.

Recently, third party hardware manufacturers have started labelling their memory card for both Gamecube and Wii. This doesn’t mean you can use the cards for Wii games, though.
They are trying to differentiate their cards from some of the older third-party Gamecube cards that weren’t manufactured to the actual Gamecube memory card specifications. These cards worked in the Gamecube, but don’t in the Wii.
Obviously, any official Nintendo memory card for the Gamecube will work in the Wii as well.
As far as a memory card for Wii games, there isn’t much point in having one, since it has 512 MB of internal memory and you can only save directly to that in virtually every game so far. But if you want to get a memory card anyway (in order to copy off old savefiles to you PC or something like that), the Wii uses normal SD cards, like most digital cameras.
